The day is July 10, 1967. Donna is 22 years old and in Minneapolis and something happens. Something bad. Because Donna’s arrested, and she’s not happy about it. Continue reading

In light of the pending doom of the Midwest and East Coast today, I thought I’d take the opportunity to post some more meditative songs. Stuff you can just zone out to or do yoga or whatever. Also, very nice for drinking wine and watching the snowflakes go by. Enjoy! Also, as always, please post your suggestions. You guys have been posting some awesome stuff and my gym list has been growing exponentially (which was my goal). Thank you very very much! Continue reading

Well, kittens, we’re back at it again! This season eleven of Project Runway has brought us no small number of characters whom you’d never, ever want to meet in real life, but will have fun dissecting on television!
Last week, we endured a fairly simple challenge: create looks for the waitstaff of Susan Sarandon’s ridiculous eatery and ping-pong emporium, or whatever the hell that place was. Do you play ping-pong before or after you’ve eaten? Are you going to be drunk while playing ping-pong? Who the hell came up with that as a concept for a restaurant? Madness, I tell you. Total and complete madness. Continue reading

When we last left our favorite Greendale Community College students, some were finishing up Biology 101 and their 3rd year while Trobed was dealing with separation anxiety. Now it’s the Jeff Winger Study group’s senior year with the same gang minus the not so dead Star-Burns and creator Dan Harmon. Continue reading
We’re rapidly approaching Hollywood’s biggest night. The one that’s supposed to mark one’s career as really, really important in the movie industry, and with the pomp and circumstance leading up to Oscar night already beginning to churn and bets in full swing as the nominees begin the “For Your Consideration” parade — what’s an Oscar really worth in Hollywood capital these days?
At the big Oscar nominee luncheon a few days ago we got a little glimpse into what the nominees are thinking thus far. We gather now that Pre-Oscar-watching is a thing that we do in preparation for the live event, like any good award-rubbernecker, we’ve got to hear about what the nominees are thinking while they walk the red carpet to go eat goose liver salad or whatever they serve at an Oscar nominee luncheon. Ergo we have already placed value on the words of “to-be” Oscar winners. Things like: Continue reading

According to the Slate/@GunDeaths project, over 1600 Americans have been killed by gun violence since the murders at Sandy Hook. Will the new bipartisan House bill make a dent in gun deaths? This week seemed to have more unusual gun deaths than expected. Let’s look at some of the gun incidents this week Continue reading
It all started with brunch at the Border Café, a no-longer-extant, Tex-Mex restaurant on the Upper West Side. The draw was not the huevos rancheros, however; it was the free, unlimited Bloody Marys*, margaritas, mimosas and Santa Fe Slushes. We thoroughly overstayed our welcome, by a couple of hours, to take full advantage of the drink offer and draw questionable pictures and slogans on the table-top butcher paper with the crayons they leave out for kids.
The conversation turned to the name of the restaurant and a discussion of borders. The group having established that the closest one was with Canada, one diner volunteered, “I have a car!” at which point the one woman with us quickly bowed out.
