Ever wonder where the days get their names from? Well, the Crasstalk Investigative team (me) thoroughly researched this subject (spent 2 minutes on Google) and have discovered that Tuesday gets its name from war Gods.

Hola Book Clubbers! It’s time for our official discussion of our latest Book Club selection, The Preservationist by David Maine. I posted these topics a couple of days ago and hope you have had time to read and think about these questions. I also hope you have questions and topics of your own to share. So without further ado, let’s revisit these questions and start with the book nerd fun!
In an effort to allow people more time to cogitate and ruminate on our Book Club selection, it was suggested that we post some topics for discussion prior to the actual discussion which is scheduled for this Sunday. Continue reading

- Welcome to PhotoPhriday! Tonight’s theme is water. Water is our essential life force – we cannot live without it and, in fact, we are mostly water. Our planet is mostly water. It provides us with life, but can also be a fiercely destructive force.

TIME Magazine is the latest to kill your summer vacay buzz. They report on an interactive map from the American Trauma Society that allows you to determine how quickly you could access potentially life saving trauma care. As this helpful article points out, the areas suffering a dearth of trauma centers encompass a bunch of popular vacation destinations.
Actually the article is mostly about disparities in care in urban and rural centers, particularly with high risk emergencies – not just accidents, but strokes, heart attacks, etc. It’s sad that to make this point, we need to appeal to wealthy vacationing urbanites and their fears of not being able to access emergency care. Too often, we forget about the folks that live in our favorite vacation spots year round – often in near or outright poverty.
And now I’ve killed your buzz too.
As you all read this, I am bidding a fond adieu to the Vineyaahd. Think of me as I ferry home to the kitties and, thankfully, a few more days off. Continue reading
