Mitt Romney’s Inevitableness, Now With 100% More Bush!

Can't you see it's my turn now? I can't believe I have to keep explaining this.

Things sure are going swell for good old Mitt Romney these days. Tuesday, he won the super important GOP primary in the not-at-all winnable-in-the-general-election state of Illinois. Then, on Wednesday, he picked up an endorsement from Jeb Bush of the Texas New England Bushes, who would likely be running for President himself if it weren’t for the fact that even Americans have enough of an attention span to remember how well the last Bush presidency worked out for 99.5% of us.

Nevertheless, it’s a big Republican name, and surely it was a big, ringing endorsement, right? Well…

Congratulations to Governor Mitt Romney on his win last night and to all the candidates for a hard fought, thoughtful debate and primary season.

Primary elections have been held in 34 states, and now is the time for Republicans to unite behind Governor Romney and take our message of fiscal conservatism and job creation to all voters this fall.

I am endorsing Mitt Romney for our party’s nomination. We face huge challenges, and we need a leader who understands the economy, recognizes more government regulation is not the answer, believes in entrepreneurial capitalism and works to ensure that all Americans have the opportunity to succeed.

That is practically an un-dorsement, folks. You can hear Jeb Bush sighing like a petulant teenager while dictating this. It’s essentially a GOP Mad-Lib, with Romney’s name filling in the blanks. How long do you think it took Jeb, or whomever writes this sort of nothing for him, to come up with this? Five minutes? Ten? It looks like it was sourced out on Elance for about $25. Romeny’s likely to get a more enthusiastic endorsement out of Newt Gingrich when that bloated sack of lies finally drops out of the race, if only because you know Newt’s folks will make sure to say terrible things about the President when the time comes.

Romney is still all but assured to be the party’s nominee come summer, and endorsements at this late stage of the game only practically serve to show that ‘serious Republicans’ (as though that were a thing anymore) are falling into line, and voters should stop stupidly thinking for themselves and do the same.
