The Prime Of Miss Jessica Chastain

She has gone from 0-60 this past year with a slew of amazing performances. Her schedule has been chock full of filming, meetings, publicity and parties, yet Jessica Chastain still manages to shine at every possible moment.

The Julliard graduate is on the tip of everyone’s tongue. Not only is she a lock for an Oscar nomination (even with three vote-splitting performances) but she is likely to have an even better year in 2012.

Ms. Chastain is being cast in every role imaginable and why not. Based on the performances we seen, it seems she can play any part. In fact, she probably should have been cast as Marilyn Monroe in “My Week With Marilyn.” It’s not that Ms.Williams did a bad job but Jessica Chastain has the ability to pull focus the way that Marilyn could. Sure, they weren’t trying to match Monroe’s star power but would it have been a bad thing if they had?

Chastain talks about her whirlwind year and future in a recent interview. Most recently Chastain has been cast in the lead role of Hannah Musgrave in “The Darling” based on the novel by Russell Banks. Chastain appears to be on track to tackle most genres with a sci-fi and horror film in her queue of films in production.

Here is a list of Chastain’s upcoming projects:

On the set of "Mama"

Tar which appears to be an adaptation of 12 poems by 12 different directors that is being produced by James Franco.

Wettest County, a depression era bootlegging gang is threatened by police who want a cut of the profits.

Mama, a movie about a couple that ends up raising their nieces that were left alone in a forest for five years.

Terrence Malick’s Latest Project about a rekindled romance after a failed marriage.

Horizons, a sci-fi movie about a man sent to destroy the remains of an alien race only to have an unexpected visitor who throws all he knows into question.

Caught In Flight, a film about Princess Diana’s affair with Dr.Hasnat Kahn.

The Darling which is an account of a radical New England woman and her life in Liberia.

There’s also another actress that you will definitely be seeing more of in the coming year. She might not have reached her prime but Brit Marling who wrote and acted in “Another Earth” has a few big supporting roles coming up.
