College Football Open Thread

There’s a good old fashioned showdown in Texas, today. Texas Tech vs. The Longhorns. Who wants to bet me that Matthew Mcwhatshisface will be there? Michigan vs. Iowa is also underway; Michigan State and Minnesota are all tied up.

Later, the South Carolina GAMECOCKS will square up against the Arkansas Pig Sooie! No. 4 ranked Stanford (what up, PAC-12) will be running over playing the Oregon State Beavers *snicker*. No. 3 OOOOOOOOklahoma State Cowboys will be trying to tame the No. 14 Kansas State Wildcats.

Most of the country will be watching No. 1 ranked and ONCE UPON A TIME BCS champs LSU play No. 2 Alabama tonight. There are going to be A LOT of drunk people there. Let the smack talk begin! Continue reading

Daylight Savings Time: It’s Good For You?

Daylight saving time finally ends this Sunday at 2 a.m. — remember to set your clocks back one hour when you go to bed Saturday night — and for many of us, that’s depressing. The day seems to fly by. It’s dark before it’s time to start thinking about dinner.

The seven-month period of daylight saving time is mandated by governments which began implementing the time switch during World Wars I and II to save energy and resources for the war effort. From World War II until recently, daylight saving in the U.S. ran from April until mid-October. Continue reading
