I cannot tell you how cathartic it was to see Roald Dahl’s book Matilda be made into a movie in the 1990’s.
Pam Ferris’ brilliant interpretation of Miss Agatha Trunchbull provides so much comedic fodder. She is by turns jealous, rageful, terrified and greedy. When Matilda figured out how to best use her telekinetic abilities to terrorize Miss Trunchbull, every kid who ever had an awful adult mistreat them sat up just a little bit taller.
