Okay, it’s not as close as the other Earth in the film “Another Earth” and isn’t about to crash into the planet like in Melancholia but it is only thirty five light years away. So basically, if we can concentrate our efforts and develop the ability to travel space at the speed of light it would only take thirty five years to get there!
The super earth, HD 85512 b, is three times the size of the earth and falls within it’s parent star’s goldilocks zone. This is the distance from the star where the temperatures are not too hot or too cold and liquid water might be present. Here’s a kind of boring video that explains it all.
