Up until last Sunday, I only had one athletic achievement. It was 2003. I was at my buddy Dan’s bachelor party, a weekend in Lake Tahoe. We spent an afternoon on the beach, playing football. Being entirely unathletic, no one covered me, ever.
The game was tied, and I was at the end zone, all by my lonesome. My buddy tossed the ball in my general direction. And I actually caught it. MVP! Everyone’s reaction– I can’t believe Maxi caught the ball!
Last Sunday, I went bowling. I had last bowled in the 1990s. I don’t think I have ever bowled above 100. But miraculously, during my second game on Sunday, I bowled one strike after another. Five consecutive strikes, in fact. I ended up scoring 205. It was spectacular. I immediately announced my retirement from the sport.
