Google’s auto-fill feature is like a window into the the soul of the world. It gives you popular search terms that act like a sort of search barometer. Let’s find out what Google has to say about Obama and Romney.
First a simple search for each name.
Simple enough for both of them. People want to know a bit of background on each of them and how what their net worth is. There is that one story that keeps dogging Romney though. Whereas people want to check out Barry’s Twitter feed.
Digging a little deeper into who they are we look at the “is” question.
People are curious about religion as it’s a big deal for many people. Though the well known facts don’t stop people from verifying what they already know. Obama is not Muslim and Romney is Mormon. People seem to have a hard time judging presidents so checking Google to find out if they’re “good” is only natural.
While people want to know if Romney is “pro life” (he is) they’re concerned with whether Obama is gay. Though to be fair, almost any person of note has a search term questioning their sexuality. Go ahead, Google a celebrity, I’ll wait.

But let’s turn the “is” question around and make it a declaration rather than a question. These are people searching to confirm what they’re already sure of.
Everyone knows that all politicians are automatically idiots so the first term is a given. The fact of Obama being Muslim is well known to those who know he is, as is Romney being a LDS member. But did you know Obama is the Anti-Christ?
What about questions about what these gentlemen do?
Vices are big on this list. The matter of what and whether Obama smokes is quite popular. As to Obama speaking Spanish he’s about as good as El Bloombito. For Romney people find Mormons mysterious.
