Spicy Chicken Fajitas

The photo of my fajita made my husband sad, because he thinks that sour cream is the devil’s dairy product. But, to many of us a fajita isn’t complete without a little dollop of the creamy white stuff. And I’m not going to fib – this fajita wanted a little mellowing out because I made the pico de gallo extra spicy. (The chicken wasn’t slacking in the heat department either.) This is an excellent recipe if you are fighting off a cold because the spiciness of the fajitas will clear your head and the lime juice will bolster your Vitamin C intake for the day. This Week in Crazy

Well gang, it has been a great week if you enjoy batshit insanity, and you all know I do. Bonus points: the anxiety over the global economy and the upcoming presidential elections is probably going to really knock a few more screws loose in those folks who are already a little inclined to go towards the odd side. I am predicting that the rest of the year is going to be a fertile season for craziness, so pull up a chair and say your prayers to Raptor Jesus, it’s going to get pretty interesting. Here’s a little dose of this week’s craziness that should probably make you feel (relatively) sane.

Let’s start with this weeks most obvious source of crazy, The Republican Presidential field. Continue reading →

Washington State Limits Emergency Room Visits For Medicaid Recipients

Emergency Department (ED) costs are a significant source of our country’s skyrocketing healthcare costs.  The ED is often treated as a clinic by uninsured and insured alike, who either do not want to or cannot visit a primary care provider or who do not have one.  ED care is expensive and is not at all set up to treat chronic conditions or provide routine care.  It is a less than ideal environment for routine care or care for non urgent issues that could wait until office hours at a primary care provider.  There are long waits and all the infectious disease risk of hospitals.  There is also little or no mechanism for following up with patients to insure compliance with treatment or to gauge effectiveness of treatment. QOTD: Driving Songs

Quite suddenly, I find myself hopping into my Zipcar (I feel so obnoxious showing up the garage down the street and telling the attendant, ‘I’ll have the Nissan today,'” or, “I’ll have the Prius today,”) and driving an hour, one way, to get my new alleged teaching gig.

I find myself needing songs.

Friday Night DJ Party – The Poosy Mix

To commemorate last weekend’s stupidness I put together a house mix for the kids. So here’s a bunch of dope tracks together in one mix that’s heavy on the Fred Falke and Way Out West.

I know it starts off slow and laid back, but the pace picks up pretty quickly.  I’m not a real deejay or anything, so try not to get yer vadges too sandy if the beatmaching isn’t always perfect. I’m calling it The Poosy Mix.

Review: Perhaps Whitney Cummings Should Learn What Abominable Means

You know that opening scene in that not great movie The Way of The Gun where Ryan Phillippe, doosh, has this crazy, foul-mouthed banter with this dark-haired, lady-cretin who rages and rants in a way that is incredibly awful, yet shamefully funny in its offensiveness, but then a few years later lots of people love her for it, and yes, well, many of us said, “Hey, Sarah Silverman was that sick, twisted chick from the opening scene of that movie all my stoner friends told me about. Yeah, that’s her. Wow. She’s come a long way.” Well none of that happened with this Whitney Cummings person.
