Thanks to a new job, I didn’t have the energy to write up any posts for the past two weeks so here I am for the season (or series) finale. Continue reading
In the dream, I’m on the moon.
I’m standing still. Scanning my immediate vicinity. Wondering exactly what I’m doing there.
Everything around me is just as you would expect. It’s like I’ve walked right into one of those documentaries about the Apollo missions. Continue reading
I woke up at my friend’s house in the middle of a serious snowstorm. I roused my other buddy from the couch and told him, “We passed out. We gotta get out of here.”
“What time is it?” he asked.
I glanced at the digital clock across the room and vaguely made out some numbers. “Threes and fours, man – we gotta go.” Continue reading
Today is Billy Joel’s birthday. Continue reading
You know what will get you publicity? A really terrible music video. The question is what is Jonah Falcon trying to publicize, a book, a movie, a website about video games? Below is the full three minutes and seven seconds of wonderment that is “It’s Too Big”. Continue reading
I recently found myself with a great deal of free time and very little to fill it with, so I figured I’d take a crack at playing the entire Mass Effect trilogy back-to-back-to-back. I had played all three games when they released, and done multiple playthroughs, but never a complete playthrough from start to finish.
As I was working my way through the games, I began to pay more attention to the little things I missed working my way through playing them separately. Bits of conversation, foreshadowing, etc. that added to the experience in unexpected ways. After I was finished, I realized that, more than anything, what moved me the most was the music. Excitement! That’s what your city is missing. Well, that and bridges that have been inspected, good schools and jobs. If you want to find the excitement look no further than Movoto’s list of the ten most exciting cities in these United States. Continue reading
Once upon a time, I recapped the weekly insanity that is Hawaii Five-O for this esteemed site. There is something so refreshing about a show with literally no rules and no laws. And by no rules and no laws, I mean domestic and international law. I also mean rules of storytelling and laws of physics. Continue reading
Last night, fashion and film stars, and Kim Kardashian, gathered for Anna Wintour’s annual: “I brought you into this world, I can take you out” party aka the Costume Institute Gala aka the Met Ball. The theme was Punk: Chaos to Couture and it was mostly embraced. Then there were those who were apparently on their way to a wedding and stopped through anyway, I’m talking about you, UMA and Former Mrs. Tom Cruise!
Beyonce was very much the picture of controlled-ohsotightly-controlled chaos while Jennifer Lawrence disappointed with her Betty Draper version of “chaos.” “America’s Sweetheart” Gwenyth missed the memo completely but then again, she IS the most beautiful woman in the world so piss off with your theme parties. For maybe the first time in her life, Kristin Stewart fit right in and had one of the best looks of the evening. The selections were tres interesant, so let’s get right to them. You can find galleries here and here. Continue reading
