While America is not quite having the “moment” the city of Toronto is having, its particularities are still entertaining to the rest of the world.
Apparently, driving three hours to a store where you can buy hand lotion, a lawn chair, a six-pack of orange soda, the Breaking Dawn soundtrack CD, and a shotgun is not all that common around the rest of the world. Sounds like people are jealous! Continue reading
Last night, fashion and film stars, and Kim Kardashian, gathered for Anna Wintour’s annual: “I brought you into this world, I can take you out” party aka the Costume Institute Gala aka the Met Ball. The theme was Punk: Chaos to Couture and it was mostly embraced. Then there were those who were apparently on their way to a wedding and stopped through anyway, I’m talking about you, UMA and Former Mrs. Tom Cruise!
Beyonce was very much the picture of controlled-ohsotightly-controlled chaos while Jennifer Lawrence disappointed with her Betty Draper version of “chaos.” “America’s Sweetheart” Gwenyth missed the memo completely but then again, she IS the most beautiful woman in the world so piss off with your theme parties. You can find galleries here and here. Continue reading

Being part of the group of kids that would circle up and do what are now “old school” dance moves, It Takes Two was the jam. Continue reading
Inspired by a story that was shared of Crasstalk commenters reuniting following a particularly revealing Photo Phriday, I reflected on my junior high and high school crushes and the songs that I reminded me of them. Music can be so intrinsically tied to one person or period of time in our lives, that a song may instantly make your heart race and stomach flutter.
The skater boy from the eight grade had a wide smile, great calves, and the coolest clothes. A friend of ours had a half pipe in the backyard and I would sit and dream of our future while watching him do tricks after school. It was Dead or Alive’s Brand New Lover that I would sing in my head. I had not yet had any lovers, so how he could be my brand new lover was all just a matter of details but I just really wanted him to ask me to the dance. This dream never materialized.
