The Challenge: Free Agents Recap S25, Ep. 8

rw challenge s25

EN is having computer problems, so you’re stuck with just me this time around.

Alright, so we’ve got our first post-Jordan and Bananas throw down episode coming up. The previously on reminds us that in addition to Jordan, Jonna went home. Laurel is of course heartbroken over Jordan’s departure. HOW WILL SHE GO ON?!

By the way, if anyone from MTV is watching, I really hate that I have to see commercials between reminding me what happened last week and the content for this week’s episode. Especially when I watch online because I often see the same commercial 3 times in a row.

Devyn’s wig Tamara also departed last week. Apparently it was OK for that thing to get dunked in the water with her, but the sand and tomato pit (DRINK) were just too much. They’re having a funeral for a wig. I can only imagine that they were terribly bored and the producer that went on the alcohol run had not come back to the house yet. RIP Tamara.

Back at the bar (of course). RoyLee (aka Leroy) is stressed about the game. And Preston does not give a shit. Preston, you need to give a shit. Cohutta is pouring his heart out to Nany and Nany says she doesn’t want to hurt him. Cohutta just thinks that Nany is scared to open up and like him like him. Nany claims that she doesn’t want to get too attached because she never knows when she’ll go home.

After they get back from the clerb we see Nany straddling Johnny Rielly while talking about stolen pizza on the couch in the open. Next thing you know, they’re having sex. She accidentally fell on his dick. Here’s what I want to know, did anyone walk out there and see this? If so, why don’t we see them being busted?

In the morning Cohutta asks Nany if he missed anything by being responsible and going to bed and she says yes, she did something stupid. Listen, don’t hurt Cohutta. He’s a good little Southern boy and doesn’t need any of the Nany mess. Of course, cut to the bullshit with that crazy guy (Adam?) from her season of the Real World.

I wonder how long they waited to get that perfect sunset shot of Laurel reading the clue to the gang. It’s a great shot, but do they all really just sit around on the couch like that?

Finally we get to this week’s challenge: Hold That Pose. Zach makes a comment that it looks like some sort of giant sex trap and I must agree with him. This is a team challenge. Each player will pick a color and then put their extremities in the 4 straps of the color that they chose. Once everyone us up, they have to hold that pose for one minute. If any part of a team member’s body touches the ground before the minute is up, they have to start over.

On Team Devyn we have: Zach, Cara Maria, CT, Nany, Leroy and Jessica. (Jessica is still here? How?)

On Team Johnny we have: Laurel, Bananas, Theresa, Cohutta (even though Johnny says it’s weird to be around him since he and Nany hooked up), Preston and Aneesa.

Preston picked last again! This is another one of those challenges he would be good for. Yoga, core strength and not having as much body weight as Zach or CT to hold up.

Strategy for both teams is to get the lighter/smaller people to the top since they have less body weight to hold up.

Laurel is vocally concerned that Theresa won’t be able to hold herself up and Theresa thinks Laurel being a negative Nelly is a distraction.

Meanwhile, on Devyn’s team, CT says communication is key to this challenge.

Johnny’s team doesn’t seem to know what the fuck is going on and Devyn’s team gets everyone is position and off the ground first. CT’s feet are dangerously close to the ground, but they are able to hold that pose for a minute before Johnny’s team even gets everyone in position.

Everyone on Johnny’s team is now up for The Draw.

Back at the house after the challenge, Nany laments her hook up with Johnny. She doesn’t want Cohutta to look stupid. She thinks her hook up with Johnny was OK because she and Cohutta never had “the talk.” I don’t think that makes this OK. I’m glad she feels guilty for hooking up with Johnny. Besides, Cohutta is better looking anyways.

After the commercial break, we see the boys on the winning team discuss how they want to start getting rid of the weak links. Sorry, Preston, this means you. Devyn gets some assurances from Laurel that Laurel won’t vote her in the next time she has the opportunity. Good strategy for Devyn. Work Laurel while she’s at your mercy.

Theresa and Aneesa discuss how they are both up for the draw and would love nothing more than to take Laurel out.

At the deliberation the votes are unanimous – Preston and Aneesa are going into the draw. Little less drama than last week’s throw down.

Aneesa is mad about getting thrown into the elimination challenge and her BFF Theresa is glad it wasn’t her that was picked. Of course Aneesa talks a big game and says she hopes that Laurel picks the kill card and that she can take her out.

For all his big talk at the beginning of the episode about how the $125,000 is “just money,” Preston cites the cash as 125,000 reasons why he doesn’t want to go home.

Nany comes clean with Cohutta about her hook up with Johnny. It looks like she’s crying real tears and I (and Cohutta) think that she genuinely feels bad. She goes on about how she doesn’t want to get too close to anyone blah, blah, blah. Cohutta forgives her and they get to cuddle until it’s time for The Draw.

At the draw, Laurel and Cohutta pick the kill card. Will Nany and Cohutta’s romance come to an end so shortly after reconciling?!

This week’s elimination challenge is Oppenheimer. The one where the contestants start out back to back in a circle and have to run to the other end and ring the bell before their opponents. I’d say the contestants in the challenge are pretty well matched up.

The guys go first and Preston says his strategy is to try and get lower than Cohutta. Cohutta’s motivation is that dark-haired Latina waiting for him. In the first try, the two guys barely brush each other as they pass and Cohutta rings the bell before Preston. On the second go round, they tussle a bit and Preston is able to move Cohutta back. When they part, Preston trips and Cohutta beats him to the bell. Cohutta rejoins the group and Preston is going home. Who are they going to pick last now?

Laurel acknowledges Aneesa as a “the first real competitor” she’s faced. Aneesa wants to run Laurel over. This is a good rivalry right here.

Aneesa bumps Laurel a bit during the first pass, but Laurel was still able to beat Aneesa to the bell. On the second go round the two make a bit more contact and it’s a struggle for either of them to get by. Once they pass it’s a sprint to the end and Laurel barely rings the bell before Aneesa. Laurel returns to the group, with her ego just a little bigger.

Next week it looks like they players will beat the shit out each other in a blind maze challenge and Laurel will renounce her best friendship with Cara Maria.
