Hot on the heels of Comic-Con comes a pair of new trailers for Alfonso Cuarón’s long-gestating project, Gravity, which stars America’s sweetsharts Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. Let’s watch them after the jump.
First up is the trailer “Detached.”
Next is “Drifting.”
Whereas the film’s teaser, released back in April, followed a more conventional approach to movie trailer narrative form and editing, these two new trailers both focus on Cuarón’s propensity for long takes, allowing us to watch in real time as Bullock’s character is first sent hurtling through space and then continuing to drift as her oxygen supply diminishes. Those lucky enough to attend the Gravity Comic-Con panel got to see the entire one-take scene (in reality some digital stitching has been done to combine shots) that these trailers were plucked from. The release of these two trailers signals Warner Bros.’ confidence in Cuarón’s film, highlighting his signature style rather than trying to disguise the film as something more conventional. /Film reports that a third trailer will be released tomorrow.
