This past weekend, my partner and I went to Los Angeles for a quick weekend away from life in the desert. In the weeks leading up to the trip, he kept hammering me with questions about what I wanted to do while we were there. This is generally how the conversation went (his part is in Italics):
So, any thoughts on things to do while we’re there? Not really. Was there any shopping you wanted to do?
Hon, I’ve been banned for life from all the McQueen stores in the country and you get mad when I buy things you think we don’t need for the house. The only thing that’s even on my radar is the Kubrick exhibit at LACMA and there will be hell to pay if I’m not allowed to go.
So, which day do you want to go?
Friday, daytime. You know how well I deal with crowds, people in general, and children at age inappropriate things.
Friday it is. We don’t need another freakout like what went down in Paris.

I couldn’t get a clear shot of these without people being in the way.
Spartacus storyboards and costume design sketches.
2001 Storyboards and matte paintings for the space scenes.
2001 costume sketches and swatches
(there are lots of this type of photo, this is what I geek the hell out over)
Location scouting photo for Napolean with shot notes for camera.
(again, lots of this sort of photo. I missed taking pics of a lot of other things b/c I wanted to get this sort of view into Kubrick’s mind)

Slates from 6 of his films and below is his filmography.
If you can go, you should go. It’s running through the end of June at LACMA in Los Angeles.
