RNC cuts ties with voter fraudster, O-O-O-O-O-O-O-Obama Phone, Rahm Vs. Occupy, the Problem with Romney, Civil Libertarians for Obama, not the election they were expecting, Romneycare unleashed, Reince Priebus and the RNC panic, Daisy II, and the wingnut mind at work.
Welcome to the Daily Sausage.
First up, you remember that article I wrote about yesterday where the RNC was in bed with a guy accused of committing Actual Voter Fraud in a lot of states? Well, today the RNC cut ties with him.
For my next trick, I predict that Mitt Romney will drop out of the race and give everyone a pony. Check in on Monday and let me know how your pony is doing!
You may have seen the viral video of a lady talking about her “Obama Phone”. Depending on who you read, it’s either an example of a Reagan-era program that provides low income individuals with access to telephone service for emergency services, government services, etc., or it’s yet another example of President Obama handing out iPhones to minorities in order to keep them voting for him.
Worth noting: this originally came to light on The Drudge Report, which as we all know is usually a very tiny diamond splinter buried in a big cow turd.
Handing someone like Emanuel his own police force is a genuinely terrible idea. Handing him the Chicago P.D. was handing a toddler a hand grenade.
Yup, that’s about right.
Now let’s talk about Mitt Romney.
Mitt Romney’s fundamental problem is that he can’t relate to the American people. He is fantastically wealthy, and always has been. He has had a terrifically privileged and sheltered life. He has never had to struggle or want for anything.
Being President is about more than being just a great leader. It’s about understanding America and its people, in a way that transcends spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations. It’s about being the President of ALL Americans, not just the ones that will or might vote for you.
When it comes down to it, Mitt Romney is going to lose, and lose badly. He’s going to lose because he can’t connect with anyone that isn’t exactly like him. The problem is, there just aren’t enough people like him to win an election.
How bad is it? Well, the GOP is letting Romney talk about Romneycare.
There’s been some consternation in the liberal blogosphere about young civil libertarians choosing not to vote for Obama over concerns regarding his foreign policy.
These concerns are misplaced and miss the forest for the trees.
Mitt Romney once debated John McCain about the use of torture. That should tell you all you need to know.
Professor Paul “THE KEYNESIAN KILLER” Krugman is back with a new post, “Not the election they were expecting.”
Never before has such a well paid group of people gathered in a circle and collectively shot themselves in the dicks.
When historians look back on this election cycle, they’ll have to put in footnotes about the level of self-dickshooting that went on here.
By the way, if you thought that the GOP was done with Todd Akin, GUESS AGAIN.
Yes, Reince Priebus and the RNC has gone slinking back to Mr. Akin on the grounds that he’s the one what brung them, and if they’re going to be the prettiest girl at the ball they have to dance with someone.
During the 1964 Presidential Election between Lyndon B. Johnson and Barry Goldwater, the Johnson campaign aired the famous “Daisy” ad. They aired it only once, but it’s generally regarded as one of the most effective political advertisements of all time.
So, when I say that “My Job” is this era’s “Daisy”, you should probably take a look.
As Ta-Nehisi Coates notes, the ad is so effective because it’s Mitt Romney’s own words. There’s no editing. There’s no changing this around or obfuscating. There’s just Mitt Romney, writing off 47% of the country as grifters and layabouts. The American people will stomach a lot, but you don’t get to write off half the country as functionally ungovernable.
Finally, don your diving suits as we descend into the wingnut mind.
Take this article, for example.
We have a somewhat famous photo of an Obama rally in Portland in 2008.
We have a conservative pundit, Matt Barber, talking about how Obama’s rallies in 2012 have been “pitiful” in comparison to his 2008 rallies.
However, he did this after being informed that that photo was not, in fact, of a Romney rally, which he criticized the media for not covering.
Nevermind the fact that President Obama routinely fills stadiums and Romney has a hard time filling high school gyms.
