Mad Men Post-Mortem: Lady Lazarus

Welcome to this week’s Mad Men post-mortem. Come in here and share your thoughts and links based on last night’s episode.

WARNING: THE REST OF THIS POST WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS. DON’T WANT TO BE SPOILED? DON’T COME IN HERE.

Here are my thoughts:

  • So many story lines, so little time.
  • Here we go with creepy Pete again. I wonder about Howard’s wife though. Does the poor girl go to the train station every day to pick up Howard and maybe he’ll show up? I know they are in a time before cell phones, but if you’re going to cheat on your wife can’t he at least have the courtesy to call her and let her know he’s staying in the city?
  • I can’t take Alexis Bledel seriously as anyone’s wife. She will always be Rory Gilmore.
  • I love that Peggy let both Megan and Don have it in this episode.
  • It must have been so humbling for Roger to have to pass the ski account on to Pete at the client’s request.
  • I’m a little surprised that Megan took her Dad’s talk last week so seriously. I can empathize with her, as the job I have now is so far removed from anything I ever thought I would be doing. Sometimes you just need that kick in the pants so you can correct your life path. I think it will be interesting to see how this affects her and Don’s relationship. Not only will the not see each other all day, but it looks like they will be on opposite schedules now.
  • I mentioned this in the Mad Men OT last night, but the conversation that Don and Megan have about music is so timeless. They could be having that conversation in 2012 and it would make just as much sense.
  • Confession: Every time a gay character appears I get my hopes up that they are the gateway back to Sal. Damn, I miss him.
