George Lucas Gets the Best Revenge Ever

A few months ago George Lucas wanted to build a 236,000 square foot digital production studio in Marin County, CA near his Skywalker Ranch property. His neighbors didn’t like the idea and shot first, convincing the local authorities to deny a permit. The wealthy modern day land-barons and their home owners’ association were happy with the decision and thought they could live in peace. They were wrong.

Lucas has a history of buying properties and refurbishing them and has now decided the best use for the property he was denied a permit on is to stay within the existing zoning rules, residential, and build some modest housing. Low income housing!

The tinfoil hat, gated driveway, NIMBY crew is sure he can’t do this, “low-income housing could never be built in such a remote and environmentally sensitive location.” Yes, because poor people are terrible for the environment and can only live in densely populated areas.

There is a good likelihood that the Marin County Board of Supervisors will approve the new request since it does everything they wanted originally, smaller buildings and residential use, and goes along with their desire for more low income housing in the county.
