Azealia Banks announced via Twitter that her newest collaboration with Machinedrum (Travis Stewart), titled “NEEDSUMLUV,” will be out on Monday, January 16th.
With just a small handful of collaborations, Banks has established herself as an artist to watch in 2012. Whether it’s the infectious beats and rhymes on her Lazy Jay produced track, “212,” or being featured on the new Scissor Sisters track, “Shady Love,” I think we’ve only seen a hint at how versatile an artist Banks is, and it will be exciting to see what she delivers to fans in 2012.
Her choice of producers is another clue that Banks will not be easily categorized. Machinedrum is known mostly for his contributions to the IDM-inflected “glitch hop” genre, and although he has done his share of remixes for other artists, he has mostly remained on the periphery of the mainstream.
Machinedrum and Banks previously teamed up for the short track “Grand Scam (Lyrical Exercise).” Take a listen below, and get excited about what these two will be releasing on Monday.
