Protesters Take Over British Embassy in Iran

Iranian protesters stormed the British embassy in Tehran today after the Iranian Parliament voted to downgrade its diplomatic relations with the UK, which includes expelling the British ambassador. The move followed the decision of the US, UK, and Canada to impose sanctions on Iran as punishment for its nuclear program.

The BBC reports that the embassy offices were ransacked while MSNBC’s photoblog shows looters making off with personal items. Embassy staff are reportedly unharmed after leaving through a back door.
