Raging Waters: Liveblogging Top Chef Just Desserts Episode 5

Last week was an extra special episode of Just Desserts, wasn’t it? Team Mad lost one of its angriest. And why? Because last week she wasn’t so angry. She was almost…likable. We can’t have that! You’re outta here, (not so) Angry Melissa! Also, finally — mercifully and rightfully — Beaker was tossed in the trash like a souffle that didn’t rise. See ya, Beaker! Team Gay is no weaker for having lost you. So what does this week have in store for us? Join me after the jump, and I’ll tell you.

This week is all about branding. Because why else would you go to pastry school unless you were planning to market yourself as a brand? What’s that? Because you like baking? You silly fool. There is only one reason we do anything in these United States of America: to make mo’ money! And how do we make money? By branding ourselves! By turning every thought and action into a product from which we can squeeze more cash!

So, for the Quickfire challenge, the bake-testants must create (and brand!) their own candy bars. It will go pretty smoothly until Rebecca does a liquid nitrogen pratfall for our amusement.

For the main challenge, the bake-testants will be loaded into a cattle car and chugga-chugga-ed off to a water park called Raging Waters. Could that name be any more perfect? I wish I had made it up, but no, it’s real. Rage! The bake-testants must create (and again, most importantly, brand!) a frozen treat that will keep angry water park maniacs cool on a raging hot day. Rage.

So we don’t start off on an angry note, I’ll end with a video of extended judging from last week’s episode. In this clip, Johnny Iuzzini confirms what many of us have suspected all along about his downstairs area. Johnny, call me.
