It’s time for the first book in our book club to be announced!
My pick: Jailbird by Kurt Vonnegut
Why this book: Vonnegut is one of my favorite authors, and this is one of his best books, earning an A grade by Vonnegut himsellf. The themes of this book are running very relevant in today’s media, and I think this book is something that will provoke great discussions.
What’s it about: While Jailbird briefly features one of Vonnegut’s most beloved characters, Kilgore Trout, Jailbird is primarily centered around Walter F. Starbuck who has just been released from a low-security prison due to his role in the Watergate scandal.
Where can I find it: It’s not Vonnegut’s most well-known book, so if you can’t find it at your local bookstore you can order it off Amazon or half.com for a pretty reasonable price.
When do I need to finish it: We will be discussing it on Sunday February 20th, try to have it done before then.
