They do not use their real names. “Eh Bee” was chosen because it sounds like the father’s real initials A.B. and allows some amount of anonymity. The “Eh” might also be a nod to the familiar Canadian eh. Their first names are generally known, their last names obviously start with a B.

The videos are very produced and target those looking for family friendly content. The content is often sponsored, they sell merchandise and their website is devoted almost entirely to getting additional sponsorships. Since the videos appear to be the family’s source of income this isn’t surprising. Family friendly and lots of views make attracting sponsors easier.
With the demise of Vine where they originally started their content has moved to YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Most of those links will lead to YouTube though where Google AdSense makes monetization possible in a way that Twitter and Facebook properties do not.
People tend to have visceral reactions to the videos with a strong love or hate.
The videos go for over the top which is the style of many of the “YouTube stars” out there. Cross overs with other YouTube personalities are common such as Miranda Sings or H3H3. Cross promotion drives additional views from the other channel’s audience.
