It’s the day after St. Valentine’s Day, and I hope all of you had something extra special yesterday. My single self was on the couch with cold medicine and Dance Moms. Because I love you, that’s why. Continue reading
While in New Orleans over the weekend one of my friends mentioned to me that she has a new 1- and 5-year plans. I was a little shocked because this particular friend never seemed like too much of a planner. She got laid off last year and instead of trying to become a cog in another machine, she decided to go her own way. I think this life change has forced her to look further ahead than she might have normally. When she brought it up, a light bulb went off in my head. I’ve been feeling sort of restless (for lack of a better word) in my life lately. Having some long-term plans that I need to hold myself accountable for seems like it will make me work for the things that I actually want.
So far this is what I have: Continue reading
Do you live in some awful yuppie enclave full of Audi-driving assholes who walk their little shit-ass lap dogs around and complain about the quality of the ceviche at that new Peruvian molecular gastronomy bistro down the street? Yes, you obviously do because you read this site.
So let me take this opportunity to show you how real ‘Mericans live — in a place where the idea of Sunday alcohol sales is still legitimately controversial. You probably think I’m talking about some small town in 1950s Georgia. You would be WRONG, ass blood. I’m talking about a small town in 2012 Georgia! Continue reading
Nancy Grace seems to think so. In the following video, Grace thinks that Whitney falls into the same category as Anna Nicole Smith and Michael Jackson and that there is more to her death than meets the eye. Continue reading
Willie Nelson and Chipotle teamed up to showcase the merits of sustainable farming and in doing so had the best performance of the 2012 Grammy Awards. And they did it in a 2 minute and 20 second commercial covering a Cold Play song from 2003. Click play then go full screen and switch to high-definition. Continue reading

In 1944, alone and recovering from a miscarriage, Irene Morgan boarded a Greyhound bus in Gloucester, VA. She found a seat in the black section of the bus and settled in for the long drive home to Baltimore.
The packed bus stopped in Middlesex County, VA, where a white couple boarded. The driver confronted Morgan and demanded that she vacate her seat. Morgan refused. The bus driver drove to the local sheriff’s station and the sheriff boarded the bus with a warrant for Morgan’s arrest. Morgan tore up the warrant and when the sheriff went to grab her she kicked him and fought every step of the way.
“He put his hand on me to arrest me, so I took my foot and kicked him,” she recalled in You Don’t Have to Ride Jim Crow!, a 1995 public television documentary. “He was blue and purple and turned all colors. I started to bite him, but he looked dirty, so I couldn’t bite him. So all I could do was claw and tear his clothes.” Continue reading
Ten years ago, DC Comics published the seminal “Death of Superman” comic book series. In this storyline, Superman takes on a monster called Doomsday, who *spoiler alert* kills Superman. Doomsday was created in a lab on Krypton by a mad scientist named Bertron, who then subjected Doomsday to the harshest possible environments and situations. Consequently, Doomsday died. A lot. However, each time Doomsday died, he would be reconstituted by Bertron, and adapted to whatever killed him. He died thousands of times, and through this forced evolution eventually became virtually indestructible, at which point he turned on Bertron, killed him, and went on a galactic rampage.
New developments in file sharing software now threaten to release a digital Doomsday, and copyright and patent holders may sooner rather than later find themselves in the role of Superman. Continue reading

On this especially, non-special “holiday”, many people will be spending truckloads of money to make their lovers happy. As a perpetually single slore, that’s not my concern. I want to know about money spent on yourself. Making you look fabulous for that mate you may or may not have/find. Continue reading
