A Brief History of Contraception

Today is the fortieth anniversary of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Eisenstadt v. Baird, a decision that barred states from denying birth control to unmarried persons. Unlike its predecessor, Griswold v. Connecticut, Eisenstadt is a relatively uncelebrated decision, though with it, the Court validated what is now a thoroughly modern mindset about sex: that sex can be fun, and it isn’t necessarily all about baby-making. The decision extended the right to privacy to include single persons– using an equal protection argument that claimed that states cannot discriminate against unmarried people when it comes to laws restricting access to birth control. Orgasmic birth is the idea that the woman can have a sensual birth experience and may even climax when the baby emerges. Studies Say Online Dating Sites Don’t Have a “Special Sauce” in Determining Compatibility

Researchers have determined that online dating has gone mainstream now more than ever. Which from what we can gather means that every single person you know has an online dating profile. No longer does computer dating have a scurrilous stigma attached that was once thought to be a place where only weirdos, drunkards, fetishists, and the otherwise fetid, noxious humans dwelled in hopes of mating with, becoming wedded to, or, at worst, adding other singletons to their collections. Yipes! (Not including Craigslist(lost)) Those freaks are nuts. No, now, online dating can boast that more than 25 million users around the world have taken the plunge and signed up with a dating site.

The .XXX Domain is a Terrible Idea. Here’s Why.

If you’ve turned on your TV recently you may have noticed a series of (awful and borderline racist) commercials for www.Buy.xxx. Yep, you can now register Slores.xxx (or whatever). Yesterday the .xxx top level domain (TLD) officially opened as more than 100,000 sites were registered with the domain management company ICM Management.

The creation of the .xxx TLD has been roiling the adult industry for the past few years but is now just creeping into the mainstream media.  Continue reading
