Remember when you first learned of “Teen Night” at one of the clubs in town? You and your friends packed yourselves into the station wagon that the one person who was old enough to drive could borrow for the night and off you went. You were feeling very grown up but at the same time, wishing you were old enough to have had a beer or six before going in. All nervous and fidgety, you and your friends entered the club, through the haze of Polo and Drakkar Noir to see the laser light show gleaming through permed hair that was teased within an inch of its life. The music was thumping and blasting all your favorite hits. Your group shuffled around, squinting in the darkness, looking for some faces you recognized or maybe some new ones that you wanted to see up closer. One good thing that comes from this, besides repainting a bathroom, is hours of internal head time where I go deep into fantasy land and imagine either an alternate history to things in my past or imagineering career paths for a large swath of my favorite celebrities.

This weekend Amy Winehouse arrived an hour late for her set in Belgrade, and no, she wasn’t using that time to prepare for her set. That is of course unless you consider whatever substances it’s pretty clear she was on at the time as preparation. Winehouse wandered on and off the stage, dropped her microphone (and not the cool way), and was finally booed off the stage. We have a clip from her attempted performance of “Just Friends.” You be the judge.
