Country music traffics, at times, in some pretty tired stories about men and women, but it is crammed to the gills with talented women who have led fascinating lives. Here is a list of four women, whose careers cover the span of country recording, whose examples I would be proud to emulate. And with the exception of the first, they continue to write and perform today. Continue reading

A little while back, Patton Oswalt wrote on Twitter:
Kansas’ “Dust in the Wind” is playing while I, a 42 year-old man, shop for comics. God has just told me to kill myself.
That got me thinking about a problem that has been preying on my mind for quite some time now. (Yes, I’m also 42, and recently started re-reading Sandman, but don’t read that far into it.) Continue reading
Time for the seventies! Although it is my least favorite decade music-wise it did have some good songs! Also, there are no dead animal pictures in this post. Continue reading

To commemorate last weekend’s stupidness I put together a house mix for the kids. So here’s a bunch of dope tracks together in one mix that’s heavy on the Fred Falke and Way Out West.
I know it starts off slow and laid back, but the pace picks up pretty quickly. I’m not a real deejay or anything, so try not to get yer vadges too sandy if the beatmaching isn’t always perfect. I’m calling it The Poosy Mix.
