As Crasstalk celebrates its first anniversary with kittens, cheese biscuits and JO knifefights, we want to ask you: What were the greatest (or most tragic) gifts you’ve given or gotten on a milestone – a major birthday, an anniversary or other major life event?
If the ground hasn’t frozen yet, there are still things you can do in the garden in cold-winter zones. By cold winter, I mean areas where the ground freezes rock-solid for winter and doesn’t soften up again until spring.
Today’s theme: what to do with all those plants.
Plants that are in the dirt:
All the dead annuals should be pulled up out of the ground when they turn brown under the first overnight frosts. Leaving them in the ground all winter is asking to have mould and other diseases come spring.
For some of the regulars here, our hobbies come up in conversation. We got craft-nighters, chicken-raisers, bikers, there’s some sort of crazy-ass weight-lifting going on. What else do we have represented here for hobbies?

It’s your birthday! What would you like for supper? Someone else will lovingly do the shopping, and pay for all the ingredients, including a nice bottle of wine or two or three. They’ll do the cooking, and wash the dishes afterwards, leaving the kitchen spotless. (Why do so few people understand that washing the dishes automatically includes wiping down the counters? Hm. A question for another day.)

VH1 just released it’s somewhat misguided list of the top songs of the 2000’s and the number one spot was given to “Crazy in Love” by Beyonce. A list of top songs is pretty hard to make without disappointing someone so I figured we’d see what our own lists look like. So what is a good unbiased way to do that? Looking at your own Itunes Top 25, of course.
