rupaulsdragraceheader
When the queens enter the workroom, Coco is predictably thrilled that Alyssa is gone. So can she get her shet together and compete without a chip on her shoulder? Doubtful. Boxxxy Mandrews acknowledges that Jinkx is the first queen to win two challenges, and Alaska tells us she thinks Jinkx is her biggest competition. Now that we’re down to the final five, there is little room for error. Anyone can go at any time. Hit the jump for a look at my updated Drag Race Index! Continue reading

Telenovela Realness: RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5, Episode 9

The queens are all sad to see Ivy go, but none as much as Jinkx, who had formed a special bond with her. Srsly, we’re going to need an update on that unrequited crush thing when the reunion airs. Alyssa says if she has to lip sync all the way to the finale, she’ll do what she has to do. The other queens don’t like that she is not acknowledging that the challenges are important. Jinkx speaks up once more to defend herself blahblah comedy queen blahblah pageant queen. I know I’m not the only one tired of them playing that tune over and over again. Continue reading

Smells Like Queen Spirit: RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5, Episode 8

rupaulsdragraceheader
The queens are all emotionally spent when they enter the workroom after last week’s non-elimination and Roxxxy’s tearful, calculated confession. Roxxxxxxxxxxy admits she had been projecting her issues at Jinkx and apologizes. Well, that’s something, I suppose. Detox is pissed that there was no elimination. Me too, gworl, me too. Alaska is frustrated that she still hasn’t won a challenge. And we’re off. Hit the jump to see my updated Drag Race Index! Continue reading

RuPaul Roast: RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5, Episode 7

The queens are sad that Jade has sashayed away. Not too sad, I’m sure, but with half the competition now gone, things are getting closer in every sense. Coco says she can’t let Ru down again. Coco, you’ve been letting yourself down most of all. Get with it. The queens congratulate Ivy on winning the challenge, and their praise really does seem louder and more genuine than when they congratulated Jinkx last week. Oh well. Don’t let it get you down, Jinkxy. In the confessional interview, Roxxxy talks some more shit about Jinkx. Maybe you should focus more on your own flaws, twunt. I am so tired of Roxxxy Andrews, and no tearful childhood trauma revelation is going to change that. Hit the jump for this week’s Drag Race Index. Continue reading

We Are the Gworl: RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5, Episode 6

As the queens enter the workroom, Roxxxy says they are all going to miss Lineysha. Alaska asks Detox how it felt to be in the bottom two. Detox tells her she doesn’t even want to know. The queens congratulate Jinkx, but Roxxxy is quick to drown out the praise for Jinkx with praise for herself. Jinkx doesn’t like that she’s not getting the sort of excited reaction that the Ro-Laska-Tox queens get when they win something. My sweet Jinkxy, don’t worry about it. You don’t need their validation. They feel threatened. They might try to express it some other way, as Roxxxy did later in the episode, but the truth is they feel (rightfully) threatened by your talent. Snatch Game! RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5, Episode 5

rupaulsdragraceheader
The queens all get a bit of a reality check from last week’s double elimination. “Ru is not playing the radio,” says Alyssa. Did I hear that right? Is that what she said? Is that even something people say? Whut? Anyway, before long Alyssa and Jade are sniping at one another, with Jade especially getting vicious. Yes, Alyssa said she thought Jade should go home, but Jade needs to learn how to modulate her response these situations a bit better. Learn how to cut someone down with a few well chosen words, rather than coming off like a shrill child who isn’t in control of her emotions. Anywhore, hit the jump for my full recap and the updated Drag Race Index. Continue reading

On Pointe: RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5, Episode 4

“Love all of u guys,” is Monica’s parting message on the mirror. Coco once again acknowledges that her head hasn’t been in the game because of her drama with Alyssa, but she’s ready to cast that aside and compete. Good, because we’re over the Coco/Alyssa rivalry too. Vivienne says she was pissed that Roxxxy overpowered her in the main competition, and she would like Roxxxy to go home. Sure, Viv, blame your shortcomings on someone else. Click through, children, to read my full recap and see who lands where on this week’s Drag Race Index. Continue reading

Save the Children: RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5, Episode 3

“Keep bearing light,” says the lipstick on the mirror, and isn’t that just the perfect meaningless bullshit for Serena ChaCha to say on her way out the door. Nobody is sad to have Ms. ChaCha gone, and Monica seems to be in better spirits now that she has come clean about her transgendered status and also proven herself to be a fierce lip syncer. The subject quickly changes to the drama between Alyssa and Coco. We find out that Coco usurped Alyssa’s place as Miss Gay America, but we still don’t know the full how or why of it. “Obligations weren’t fulfilled. . .and legally I had to do that,” Coco tells the other queens. They give us just enough to whet our appetites, but they aren’t giving us the full story yet. Click through for my full recap and updated Drag Race Index! Continue reading
