Saying Goodbye to Faith, for Good

Late this Spring, my parents were in a car accident. It was early evening. It was raining, and the car hydroplaned. It went over a guard rail, flipped over, and came to a stop on the side of a hill. My mom suffered some severe but not life-threatening injuries. She was beside my father as the first responders tried, but ultimately failed, to revive him on scene.

This is a guide to help you open a bottle of wine the way it should be done, the way the sommelier at your favorite nice restaurant should do it.

  • A liteau (basically a tea towel)
  • A waiter’s key

A Few Interesting Canadians

You Americans sure do love your celebrities. It’s kind of baffling that a failed presidential candidate (or even a failed presidential candidate candidate) can become a household name; not just in your country, but across the border and around the world. Herman Cain, really? Were he and his ilk really worth the obsession?

Canada has exported a few superstars, of course; Bryan Adams, Justin Bieber, Celine Dion. (You are most welcome to keep them). But we don’t exalt our power players to nearly the same degree.
