Mad Men Post Mortem: A Tale of Two Cities

JoaniePeople on my Facebook feed were freaking out over this week’s episode of Game of Thrones and not a peep about Mad Men.

WARNING: Spoilers ahead.

  • Favorite line: Ted to Pete: “As the Head of New Business…”

Pete: “Since when?! I don’t want that!”

  •  Re: The Chicago Riot they showed on television. The timing of this confuses me. A quick Google search only yielded the riots that happened right after the death of Dr. King, but that happened earlier this season. Does anyone have anything different?
  • I know it was the style of the time, but every time Harry is on screen, he looks more and more ridiculous. Gah! The sideburns!
  • It was interesting to see that Roger’s East Coast Swag does not translate on the West Coast. How long until making fun of Mona’s cousin bites him in the ass?
  • Joan and Peggy’s relationship was tested in a way it never had been. There’s no way Joan could have let Peggy know that she squeezed Pete out because Peggy would not have gone for it. I guess I never took Peggy as someone to 100% play by the rules.
  • The idea that Peggy and Joan could form their own agency floated around in the OT last night and I like it.
  • Bob Benson – who are you?
  • I fully expected to see Ginsberg explode during his breakdown before the Manischewitz meeting.
  • I wonder if Megan’s really pregnant.
  • I’m so glad that the name issue is finally resolved, though I am not pleased with the result. The two people with their names still in the title probably care the least and it’s just another boring name. I was hoping for something a little less obvious than just names. At least we don’t have to wonder about the name any more
  • Obviously Jim Cutler had to agree to the merger for it to happen, but he seems less willing to accept that has happened. It’s not going to turn out well if he keeps thinking of the staff as “Don’s people” and “CGC’s people.” I wonder if he sticks around.

I am interested to hear everyone else’s thoughts on this episode!
