Ann Romney’s Lifetime Movie Moment

Do you know what happens during presidential campaigns? Well, there’s a winner and a loser. And throughout the course of the battle, in order to identify said winner or loser, there will be scrutiny, negative ads, debates, media coverage, criticisms, and a whole bevy of commentary that will try and out one or the other as the loser.

This is pretty much par for the course, you know, when we’re talking about presidential campaigns — the biggest election that we Americans experience every four years. Make a gaffe and it’ll reverberate through the 24 hour news cycle. Make a huge blunder and it could stick around for weeks. Do what Mitt Romney did and label half the country as poor miscreants luxuriating on the government dole and it could possibly torpedo your umpteenth chance at the presidency. (Or as commenter SixThirty points out about the Romney campaign via Peggy Noonan: “This week I called it incompetent, but only because I was being polite. I really meant “rolling calamity.” HA!)

But not on Ann Romney’s watch.

No siree. She won’t stand for any old Republican messing with her husband’s decade long bid for the white house. Not when the Democrats are already doing such a good job at skewering him for making some “paltry little” statements that basically tell the truth in how he sees half of America. It is soooo unfair that his words weren’t twisted, or edited, or somehow lies! How dare anyone beat up on poor Mitt Romney a wealthy, scrambled Faberge egg eating, Cadillac hoarding, Rolex for the dog purchasing, illegal immigrant gardener joking, Jet Ski aficionado, and all around empathetic good Samaritan?! THE. HORROR.

In seemingly as dramatic fashion as possible last night on Radio Iowa, in response to the naysayers in the Republican Party who are calling it like they see it, Ann Romney would like you to “Stop it!” Stop it, because this whole campaigning thing is hard.

“Stop it. This is hard. You want to try it? Get in the ring,” she said. “This is hard and, you know, it’s an important thing that we’re doing right now and it’s an important election and it is time for all Americans to realize how significant this election is and how lucky we are to have someone with Mitt’s qualifications and experience and know-how to be able to have the opportunity to run this country.”

Oh, Ann. They’re taking Mitt Romney for granted! They’re lucky. L U C K Y that someone of his ilk is speaking up for the 1% 100%, right?! I MEAN, RIGHT?!

So we guess this would make the Romneys, er, uh, victims? Yes, yes, surely this is what Ann is trying to say in her two minute Lifetime movie audition tape. The Romneys are victims of a cruel, cruel GOP boyfriend! Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?!

*Seriously, if you watch the video and apply the GOP to much of it, it’s ripe for the Lulz. Good Golly, Mitt Romney saying that Drew Peterson line. So wrong. Har!
