QOTD: If You Could Turn Back Time, If You Could Find A Way

Whether you’re 16, 36 or 60, there will have been many moments in your life when you’re reading a book, watching a TV show or a movie or staring down at the ruins of a lost civilization and thinking to yourself “whoa man, I wish I could have seen that, daddio!” (Note for 16 year olds: “daddio” used to be cool slang. Ask your Dad).

So, if you were granted the ability to go back in time (whether this is by means of a time machine, magic or an angel is up to you and your belief system) to observe 5 things but without the ability to interfere or change anything, what 5 things would you choose?

For me, it would be:

  1. Jimi Hendrix live in concert. Not at Woodstock. Some random concert which isn’t on film but which totally went off.
  2. Neil Armstrong stepping onto the moon (no rule says that I can only go back in time ON EARTH).
  3. The last time Rupert Murdoch changed the passwords on his internet banking (hopefully I get to bring a notepad, I’m rubbish at remembering passwords).
  4. Julius Caesar’s trimuphant return to Rome in 46BC. To witness one of the biggest and most grand victory parades ever- literally four days of mock battles, wild animals, prisoners and tribute from the breadth of the Roman Empire, and Big Julie himself escorted to his house by elephants- and for the chance to see the Roman Republic at its height, and so I could come back to Rome in the present day and complain about how the Forum was in much better condition last time I saw it.
  5. The day the meteor hit Earth in 65 million BC… both to see the last dinosaurs, and to see the meteor!

What would you go back in time to see?
