Mad Men Post-Mortem: The Phantom

Let’s talk about last night’s episode and share our thoughts, links to excellent recaps, and (of course) hilarious gifs! A few of my own thoughts after the cut.

WARNING: THE POST AND COMMENTS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS. DO NOT ENTER IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE SPOILED. THIS IS YOUR LAST WARNING, JERK.

Just a few words on last night’s episode.

  • Don’s achy tooth as symbolism for blah blah blah. You already get it, I don’t have to tell you.
  • I’m always pleased to see Megan’s mother around. Julia Ormond is beautiful and awesome, and I am generally a huge fan of tough love (especially when it means that dumb bitch backstabber Megan gets TOLD).
  • I have zero patience for Beth and by extension Pete’s obsession with her. Pete getting punched twice–by two different people!–in one episode is worth it, though. OK, OK. Also his surprising self-awareness: “His life with his family was like a temporary bandage on a permanent wound.”
  • Ginsberg’s sassy attitude gets a thumbs up from me. I find his impatience charming–from a distance.
  • Looks like Peggy is going to help launch Virgina Slims! Hell yes Peggy. Hell yes. Did anyone else think she was going to jerk Don off in the movie theater?
  • Roger Sterling’s ass–and his love of LSD–deserves its own show.

So what do you think? Did Don or didn’t Don?

(He totally did.)
