Teen Mom Got A Gun

Let’s say, you’re a young mother with a three month old baby, living in a trailer in Oklahoma. Also, your husband was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago, and he died on Christmas Day.

A few days later, you’re grieving because you just put your husband in the ground. It’s pitch black outside since the sun goes down so early in the day, and suddenly a man named Justin Martin drops by, claiming that he was a neighbor who wanted to say hello. You don’t know who he is, it’s pitch black outside, you’re alone with the baby, so you don’t open the door.

The stranger decides to come back on New Year’s Eve, and he brings a friend, Dustin Stewart, armed with a 12-inch hunting knife. The two men try to break into your home. What do you do? Well, here’s what Sarah McKinley did; as one of the men was going from door to door outside her home trying to gain entry, McKinley called 911 and grabbed her 12-gauge shotgun.

McKinley told the local news (see the video, above) that she got her 12 gauge, went into her bedroom and got a pistol, put a bottle in the baby’s mouth and called 911.

“I’ve got two guns in my hand — is it okay to shoot him if he comes in this door?” the young mother asked the 911 dispatcher.

“I can’t tell you that you can do that but you do what you have to do to protect your baby,” the dispatcher told her.

When Martin kicked in the door and came after her with the knife, the eighteen year old mom shot and killed the twenty-four year old.

“I wouldn’t have done it, but it was my son,” McKinley said. “It’s not an easy decision to make, but it was either going to be him or my son. And it wasn’t going to be my son. There’s nothing more dangerous than a woman with a baby.”
