Get to Know Boobookitteh

Hey, fuckos! Here’s the first in a series of articles where you get to know your fellow commenters. Can you feel the glamour? Because you should. Get ready for a shower of glitter-farting unicorns as we “lift the veil” a little bit, and start to learn a little more more about each other.

Questions will vary from time to time, and of course anyone can interview anyone else. As I like to say, the pioneers get into trouble and the people who follow them reap the benefits.

So! Boobookitteh and I are the first two in the barrel for this experiment in terror. Myself, as interviewer, and Boobookitteh as interviewee. Aren’t we brave? Yes, we are. Read along and ask your follow-ups to our dear Boobookitteh as you feel is appropriate! Or inappropriate, depending…

Is there anything in your fridge right now that you dislike?

Usually not. But there is some horseradish flavored cheese that I bought recently in an experiment that was disgusting and I haven’t gotten around to pitching it.

What’s your occupation? We know it’s new. How did you get an interview, what are your co-workers like?

I am a Nurse Practitioner. I have been one for 10 years and prior to that I was a nurse for 7 years. I just started a new job – which I really like. My coworkers seem pretty mellow and are friendly and helpful and there seems to be a below average amount of bullshit. Even though it’s new, I think this is a good fit. The last couple of jobs I’ve had I knew instantly it wasn’t a good fit and was proven correct in short order, so I’m optimistic about this one. I found the job on one of the websites – monster, I think.

I’ve done a lot of different things in my career. I’ve worked in women’s health (including a couple of stints at abortion clinics and as a Sexual Assault Nurse examiner), public health, oncology, psych, primary care. Currently I work in geriatrics which I find incredibly challenging and interesting because of the complicated medical and psycho-social management.

Whose music are you listening to right now?

I’m in a folky- country mode right now. My latest iPod mix has some Dolly Parton, Kim Richey, Alison Krause. But my library has everything from Judas Priest to Bach and back again. I go through phases – I’ll make a playlist and play it to death and then be in the mood for something else. I feel a 50’s/early 60’s phase coming on.

What was the last text message you received?

‘Leaving now. See you in about an hour.’ If you had asked me this a couple of relationships ago it would have been a lot spicier.

What was the last thing you bought?

Besides groceries? I bought some picture frames the other day. The last ‘big’ purchase was a new dining room set. If you’re counting groceries, that would be the ingredients for stuffing.

What is your zodiac sign?

Sagittarius. The best sign. My sun and moon are in Sagittarius and I have Leo rising. That’s a lot of fucking fire. I am too hot to handle.

What was the last thing you cooked?

Acorn Squash with homemade stuffing.

Tell us about your last weird dream?

I can never remember the details.

What are your plans for next weekend?

I have no idea. Probably not much as my last two weekends were busy and the three weekends after the next are going to be busy too what with some birthdays coming up (including mine!) and Thanksgiving. Probably just sit and stare or read. There will likely be some fucking around on the interwebz.

Have you ever come close to dying?

Yes.

Name three things that you have on you at all times.

Phone, inhaler and breath mints.

Would you ever consider having plastic surgery?

hmmm. Maybe around the eyes. Or a tummy tuck.

Who was the last person you touched?

My massage therapist (!) I had a lovely massage earlier today. Of course I’m assuming that you are excluding pet-people.

Favorite restaurant in Boston? What do you regularly order there?

I think my favorite restaurant is actually the Lobster Pot in Provincetown. I order something different every time. It’s always good and I have a lifetime of really good memories going there.

If you could be anywhere, where would you be right now?

Down the Cape – Wellfleet or Ptown. If I was independently wealthy and didn’t need to work, I would live there year round.

Last gift you received?

Homemade zucchini bread and a nice scarf. They were going away presents at my last job.

Look to your left. What do you see?

Tea cup. With chamomile tea. Trying to keep the mellow from my massage appointment.

Last book you read?

Double Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. I highly recommend the Dexter books. Darker and more layered than the TV show. Dexter is a much more dislikable person in the books, but more interesting.

What is one thing about you most people don’t know?

I was a practicing witch for a few years.

Most quotable movie, in your opinion?

I quote Anchorman a LOT. More than any woman should. I remember when I went to see it – I was the only woman in the theater who hadn’t been dragged there by a man. People were kind of staring at me during the scene where Baxter comes back and saves Ron and Veronica from the bear. I was absolutely hysterically laughing. No one else thought it was as funny as I did.

What websites (besides Crasstalk, naturally) do you visit regularly?

Dlisted (Michael K is fucking hilarious), Wonkette (I really like the commenters there – sharp and funny), Fark (don’t judge – it’s a great source of funky links and some of the commenters are funny) and twitter.

How would you describe a commenter (here or elsewhere) who you always respond to?

I always respond to my Princess Lala. She’s my brother from another mother. My commenter soul mate. Yin to my yang. Pastels to my earth tones.

And there you have it! I see some avenues for follow up questions, which of course you all must pose in the comments. Hope you’re up for the introspection, miss BooBoo!
